Don’t Let the Task-Master Rule

There is much to be said for slowing down. In a fast-paced world there is little room for awareness of My Presence and My reign over you and all of life. Don’t let the task-master ways in you rule. Step back, often, and pause to listen – acknowledging My ways and recognizing My deep love for you. Be especially mindful of that today. Let Me bring peace back to your heart and mind.

Just Be

Be okay with yourself for a day. Stop the relentless teeth grinding and self-imposed pressure to perform, handle, initiate, follow through on, and take care of things. Listen to yourself setting that expectation bar so high. Just “be” for a change. Work on mindfulness, – a step by step awareness and contentment without excessive planning or self-criticism for what isn’t getting done. My ways of Peace may not seem aligned with your work ethic and drive. Listen to Me and let Me teach you. You don’t always have to show accomplishment to be a successful, devoted follower of Mine. Practice being calm and peaceful, even around others. Less is more today. 

Good Day

Let’s have a GOOD day today. Slow things down and take intentional breaks, pausing to find contentment in your surroundings. Take notice of My little gifts I send you in the moment. Everyday things, – sights, sounds, weather, nature, – can bring pleasure and calming. Tell yourself often “God’s got this. Things will work out. I can still enjoy today.” You might be surprised at how much of a difference this approach makes when you trust Me to render Goodness out of every circumstance. 

Change Habits of Over-Commitment

You don’t have to be “on” all the time. Stepping back and taking time to unplug is equally as important as constantly striving to do and be your best self. You have become a harsh taskmaster over the years. I want you to examine and change habits of over-commitment or feelings of hyper-responsibility. Remember, I’m the One in charge. I call you to add rest breaks into your schedule. Find balance by committing quiet time with Me daily. Release your need to control everything, trusting Me with the outcomes instead. I don’t want you weighed down by over-responsibility. Come to Me, all you who labor and are weary; find rest in Me.

Slow Your Racing Thoughts

You are having a hard time shutting your mind off. The best way to cut down the busy traffic in your head and calm down is to stop and focus on something colorful in your surroundings. Take in every detail of whatever catches your eye, picturing My hand crafting its formation. Catch the sounds stirring around you, sent by Me to whisper reminders of My loving Presence. Consider all as gifts to help slow your racing thoughts. My Peace I give freely and abundantly to you in any given moment. Stop your anxiety-prone mind frequently and pay attention, for I am ALWAYS with you.

Pressure Cooker of Stress

Try to not focus so much on the work coming up and all that has to be done. You’ll get there when you need to be there. Today has other things that I want you to notice: tiny movements, splashes of color, unexpected interactions. By enjoying what is occurring in the present moment, you release the steam from that pressure cooker of stress. Look around you, noticing little things that catch your eye and pull you into the present. See My Love calling you to the calm.

Press On

I recognize your weariness and the emotion that accompanies it. Your anxiety and stress, – sometimes including sadness or irritability, – leave you feeling overwhelmed. Press on. Come to Me with all of it and rest a while by My side. Let the tears fall. Then, after you have been able to share the load with Me, rise up. Notice that I don’t stay seated, pushing you away while saying “Just get going”. No, – I rise with you. We’ll press on together. We can handle anything this way. Let’s take it slowly, – one day, one hour, one moment at a time.

Get Your Drive Back

You will get your “drive” back. Sometimes I call you to slow down, and even to stop. I don’t mean for you to entirely back out of life and all of its commitments.  Balance is the key and pausing to spend time with Me daily is the fuel you need. Fill up on My reassurance and love for you. Take in gallons of encouragement. My ways are gentle and kind, and I want you to treat yourself well with the same intention. Put the brakes on when anxiety and self-hatred try to take the driver’s seat. Order them to get out of the car; they don’t belong there. Let Me take over, steering you in the right direction. My ride is meant to be safe and slow, giving you ample time to take in the scenery. 

One Thing at at Time

Take it slow today – with deliberate focus on one task, one conversation, one thing at a time. If you are having trouble prioritizing, write it all down and ask Me to look over the list with you. I’ll help you get started and it will flow much easier when you remember this is not all up to you. Sit with Me in quiet awareness of My Presence. Allow My grace to refocus, replenish, and refresh you. Entrust Me with your whole life and your whole list. I am yours, and you are Mine.

Lighten Up on Self-Criticism

Think of the word “softness” today. You can tread lightly wherever you walk, – not driven to impose on others but being gently present instead. I am not hard on you, but you often are on yourself. It hurts when Me when you do that and I ache for you to show more self-compassion, too. Try going softly today – especially lightening up on the self-criticism. You are loved fully by Me, exactly as you are.
